Deacon Innocent Mathis

Axios to our newly ordained Deacon Innocent!

Deacon Innocent was ordained to the holy diaconate by His Grace Bishop Anthony on May of 2023.  Prior to his ordination, Deacon Innocent had faithfully served the parish as a subdeacon, reader and as an altar server for many years.

St. Mary's Church is grateful for the service of all who serve the parish.

Thought for the Day

Of course it would be easier to get to paradise with a full stomach, all snuggled up in a soft feather-bed, but what is required is to carry one's cross along the way, for the Kingdom of God is not attained by enduring one or two troubles, but many! - Elder Anthony of Optina

What is Orthodoxy?

"Sometimes called the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Orthodox Church is the first Christian Church, the Church founded by the Lord Jesus Christ and described in the pages of the New Testament.  Her history can be traced in unbroken continuity all the way back to Christ and His Twelve Apostles.  For twenty centuries, she has continued in her undiminished and unaltered faith and practice.  Today her apostolic doctrine, worship, and structure remain intact.  The Orthodox Church maintains that the Church is the living Body of Jesus Christ."
